Things to do according to our nature photo trip:
-Kurkijärvi nordic lights watching
-Kuukeli photographing (You can find this bird near camping places and near cottages)
-poro meeting (nordic elks are very usual near the roads)
Small hiking:
-Riisitunturi (ca 6 km walking)
-Iivaara (ca 4 km climbing)

Next to Kuusamo there is a great skiing center called Ruka. It has great slalom opportunuties in the winter and nice hiking places in the summer. For hiking ask for "Karhunkierros" -route.
I prefer Off Piste -snowboarding, but anything goes. ;)

This is one of the biggest skiing stations in Finland, with suberb views from the top of the fjell (tunturi in Finnish).
