What to buy: They have sleeping bags, knifes, cooker, dishes for outdoor, small choice of dry meals.
Only you will not find fuel for the liquid cooker, but gas.

The selling of stronger alcohol in Finland is limited to certain stores called alko.

Well, I apologize right at the beginning for this tip... :)
In case you are looking for some food you know from Germany, a good place to be successful are the lidl-supermarkets. You can find them at many different locations here in Finnland.

What to buy: The food is to 60% comparable to the choice you have in the German stores of the chain, the rest are Finnish products.

The entrance to Nicky & Nelly store is a bit understatement for the shop: it looks like any small boutique door, but the store expands behind corner into a huge space full of clothes, shoes and accessories for children.

Nicky & Nelly is a chain store, but I've never seem them having so much of stuff. Maybe the Oulu franchise is running some extra brands or they just love to stock things. The variety of clothes is excellent, and most of the sizes are available. The shoe selection is very good, too -- at least for Finland.

The store is located on the street that has Rotuaari, one block further from the ball statue.

Kirjakauppa Kipa is a little bit funny bookstore in Finland, as it stocks only books. Usually, the stores are filled with all office related stuff and sometimes the books are in minority. Not in here.

The smallish store is located in Pakkahuoneenkatu, near the walking area Rotuaari. The selection is focused on literature in Finnish, but they stock some English books and maps for tourists.

The number of alternative books from Like and Sammakko (small Finnish publishers) is astounding compared to the small size of the store.

Levykauppa Äx's store in Oulu looks like most of the other non-chain record stores: rough at edges and a lot of attitude inside.

The store is the best place to buy music in Oulu, if you are not interested in the too-produced mass music genres.

Tilted towards rock, heavy metal and alternative, Äx stocks a lot of bands that the media doesn't say a word. They sell both new and used cds. There is also a shelf for vinyl discs.

Lastenvaateliike Tiina Kiikka is a treasury box for finding old style children fashion, such as sailor suits, pretty dresses and other garments.

The store is open only during summer. It can be found at the old red warehouses facing the sea, next to the Oulu market square. Entering the store is like travelling a hundred years back in time.

The selection of clothes is huge, and all of them portray the charm of old ages.
