Sauna is ready when the heat is about 80 degrees Celsius. (For some Finns like my grandfather it is 100 degrees)
Bathers are nude in Finnish saunas (but I don't mind if someone wants to wear towel)
During sauna session lose about 300 cal, which is about 30min of exercising
Old days babies were born in a sauna and dead were bathed in the sauna.
All Finns have it, almost all of us love it!
Cottage, sauna, barbeque, bonfire, family, friends...what else you can ask.
For Finns this nightless night is about spending time together and relax.
Juhannus (how we call it) is nowadays a Saturday between June 20 and June 26.Actual Juhannus party is on Mid summer eve on Friday. In addition to Chrismas eve Midsummer eve is official holiday in many companies.
We Finns love spending time on our summer cottages.
Thanks to our thousands lakes we have chance to have those cottages located next to the lakes.
If asked me, the best cottages are those which does not have electricity but if you think it's too extreme, you can find cottages with all conveniences.
What makes it special?
Think about it;
calm lake, quiet nature, light and warmth of fire..
and those are only a few things that makes our nightless summer nights special.
