    Downhill carting

by TarjaH Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On the Vuokatti downhill skiing center, next to indoor snowboarding tunnel, you can try downhill carting during the summer (from June to August).
Vehicles do not have motors so all the speed comes from gravity.
Safety is taken into account so also younger persons can feel the speed. Only limitation is that you have to be at least 150 cm tall.

The sleddog center is located near to Vuokatti's downhill skiing center. If you are not interested in long safaries, you can take shorter rides or only meet the huskies. If asked me, seeing the dogs is a great experience itself. You can get your husky ride also during the summer, but in the summer time you should make a reservation beforehand.

The 4th wooden church of Sotkamo is the biggest church in Kainuu with 1500 seats.
Three churches before current one has all burned down.
The pride of the current church is a altar painting which represents resurrection of Christ and was painted by Severin Falkman in 1877.

    Mölkky

    by croatia2006 Written Aug 18, 2008

    Lot of fun!

Mölkky is a game originating in the Päijät-Häme region of Finland. The game is played by throwing a wooden stick, mölkky, at a set of pins numbered from 1 to 12, from a distance of approximately 4 metres. Total score is determined by how many pins are knocked down and what their numerical values are. The game is over when the first player reaches exactly 50 points. If a player exceeds 50 points, his or her score drops down to 25.

We got it from RTG Active Oy 5 euros/24h
