People lived 5,000-7,000 years ago in Kierikki along the river Iijoki on the sandy banks near the mouth of the river. The sea carried a salty breeze to the area. The village had different kinds of buildings, single and semi-detached houses. Sometimes large row houses were built, which are Kierikki's specialty.
There is a half-a-kilometre long trap path leads from the Stone Age village through the forest passed traps from ancient historical times. You will become familiar with the different traps used for trapping bears and foxes, among others. The path leads back to the Stone Age village and through the village to Kierikki Stone Age Centre's main building. Also suitable for people with wheelchair.
There is a restaurant and a nice newly built wooden log hotel near the village.
In the main building the Stone Age Centre Kierikki, there is an archaeological exhibition and a souvenier shop where you can buy special things made by local people. They all are Stone Age related.
