Packing your suitcase...

by Janni67

If you come here in winter, bring warm clothes and a good, warm coat. The temperature can be +5 C and raining, but it can also be -30 C.In summer, pack your t-shirts and shorts, but take along a pair of jeans and a shirt with long sleeves as well. It can be +30 C and clear blue skies, but it can also be +15 C with nothing but rain, rain, rain.

No mosquito worries at Fall

by Scandic

Going to Lapland and worrying about mosquitos? Switch July to late August or early September? It is extremely beautiful, colorful and no mosquitos at all. It might be little chiller, but very easy to still sleep outside. And if you have a dog, don't let it home. It is wondeful to hike with dogs and they love it.

All you need is love... and MONEY!

by Heinisuo

During the winter prepare for cold weather.During the summer prepare for sun, rain and wind. You could need your gloves and some warmer clothes even in summer and at least during spring and autumn. Finland may turn out to be pretty expensive (especially alcohol and petrol/gasoline are), so take all the money you can get with you.

In the photo you see the first snow in Lapland. Fall (autumn) may be rainy in Finland. Summers are usually pleasantly dry and sunny (daytime temperatures usually between +15 and +25 degrees Celsius) - but occasionally wet. So don´t forget your umbrella home. A summer climate in Finland is more rainy than in the Mediterranean area but not so rainy as in Central Europe. Nights may be cold especially in Northern Finland. The best advice on packing for Finland is to bring layers of clothes. You haven´t anything to worry about healthwise in Finland. However, you should know that you may have an uncomfortable time if you coincide with the mosquito season. The time of the season and the amount of mosquitos depends on weather conditions. Sometimes you don´t see mosquitos at all and sometimes there may be mosquitos everywhere especially in the forests of Lapland and near lakes. Enquire about...

An extra, empty bag is necessary for all the Finnish design that you want to take home with you! As you'll love the nature there, be sure to bring good shoes and other clothes fitted for a long walk in all kinds of weather.During winter it is freezing cold - and I do mean freezing cold nowhere in Finland you go! So bring lots of lots of thich winterclothes, and some you can wear in layers as four pairs of pants is not too little if you e.g. plan a trip to Lapland in March. During summer it gets rather warm in the southern part of Finland, so at that time you should bring normal summerclothes - though a sweather is good for chilling evenings near the water. Anti-mosquito spray! A must for the spring and summer, at least if you're in the woods or near water. And well, this covers most of Finland, so...

Lot´s and Lot´s of mosquito oil or spray or anything that prevent´s the mosquitos of biting..(isn´t of course a need if you come in the winter)And also if you come in autumn here is a bug called hirvikärpänen, something like elkfly if you translate it directly, they don´t reallly bite but it´s not so fun when you feel them walking around in your head...If your not going to walk around in the forest, you don´t have to do anything..but if you do ther is not so much else to do than to but something over your head......
