Saluhallen is a local market hall situated at the harbour in the city of Helsinki. Saluhallen is a Swedish word mainly to attract Swedish visitors as there are many visitors travelling by ferries from Stockholm throughout the year. In fact there are daily departures by Viking Line and Silja Line between Helsinki and Stockholm. Saluhallen has a lot to offer especially to local and foreign tourists. Wide range of fresh food are on sale at the market hall such as fresh seafood and other meat like chickens and porks, local sausages, canned food and drinks. For those who are hungry and thirsty, several cafés, bars and restaurants are located in the market hall for you to chill out!

The flea market at the harbour of Helsinki is located just outside Saluhallen (Market Hall) at the harbour between Viking Line and Silja Line terminals. You can purchase your favourite Helsinki and Finland souvenirs from the market at reasonable prices. Local arts and crafts can also be purchased from the stalls. Fried small fishes are very popular at the market. We certainly enjoyed eating these fried little fishes.
Helsinki souvenirs, hand-made local handicrafts and fried little fishes are highly recommended.
Cheaper than those in the outlets in the city centre. Leave a Comment Theme: Local CraftDirections: Located just outside Saluhallen (Market Hall) at the harbour between Viking Line and Silja Line terminals.

by Gili_S This is a traditional coffee mug made of one piece of birthroot. It has been traditionally made in Lapland for centuries. But you must be careful, there are now some massive productions such items and they are not the real ones. Best would be to buy it in Lapland.
Aout 35 euro in the south, a bit cheaper in Lapland. Leave a Comment Theme: Local Craft

by Gili_S If you happened to travel by flight, you can leave some of your shopping for the airport. Some items will be cheaper there, especially if you fly out of the EU, as you will be entitle to pay tax free for items.
Alcohol for example will be half price. Cosmetics items will be cheaper as well. Penna Design and Kalevala products are available here as well. Leave a Comment

Olvi by Gili_S If you want to take with you home a sample of Finnish beer, maybe its better to wait for your departure and buy this excellent Finnish Doublebock beer made by Olvi. It is strong, it taste good and much better then the average waterish Finnish lagers. I am not sure now if they have it at the airport but surely they have this beer on the ferries that goes to Sweden or Estonia. Leave a Comment
