Uspenski Cathedral by sabsi Uspenski cathdral is the biggest orthodox church in Finland. It's extremely gorgeous from the inside as well as from the outside. If you plan to see only one church of Helsinki I'd choose this one! The interieur design is much more gorgeous than the inside of the white cathedral Tuomiokirkko. Turku by magor65 Turku (Abo in Swedish) is the oldest town in Finland. It was the capital of the country until 1812. Probably its significance in history is one of the reasons why tourists visit Turku. Its greatest attraction is the medieval castle with dungeons. Another highlight is Lutheran cathedral, whose oldest part comes from the 13th century. Any visitor to Finland must have heard about Sibelius - the outstanding Finnish composer. Here in Turku in Sibelius Museum you can listen to his music and see objects connected with his life. Leave a Comment

The port of Helsinki is the busiest passenger port in the country and is also the main port of Finland for cargo traffic. It handles most of the country's cargo traffic with facilities for large container traffic. The South Harbour has ferry terminals for passenger traffic built for cruise ships such as Viking Line and Silja Line which depart for Mariehamn, Åland and Stockholm, Sweden. You can travel to Tallinn in Estonia from the Port of Helsinki. The terminals in the harbour handle approximately 5 millions passengers annually. The deep harbour also attracts international cruise ships from around the world during the summer months. Midnight in Rovaniemi by musti72 Rovaniemi is just a few kilometers under the arctic circle. It is the door to the land of the midnight sun and the rendeers called Lapland. It prises itself as home of Santa Clause, with a themepark inside a cave and a village where tourists can find everyting about him. A great experience is a visit to a reindeer farm where you can touch and feed those nice animals. Leave a Comment

Yet another delightful small lake in the Vantaa area ... I can never get enough of lakes in Finland .... lucky for me there are so many of them :-)) This one is particularly pretty to walk around, especially in winter a few minutes before sunset, especially in special company :-) Leave a Comment

Santa Claus' Post Office by musti72 Just some kilometres north of Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle you can find the Santa Claus Village with many shops, restaurants and the official Santa Claus Post Office where letters from all over the world adressed to him arrive. Some of the millions of letters that arrive each year can be read, a really funny experience. One can write christmast cards all year around and choose to let them be sent at next christmast. Helsinki Harbour by musti72 Helsinki is the biggest city in Finland, together with its surroundings it has about 1 million inhabitants. But you almost never feel that you are in such a big city, beside in the actual quite small center, because architecture has found a harmonious cohexistence with nature and the surroundings. It is well worth to stay here for at least 2 days. The main attractions are the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, the Luteran Cathedral, the Marketplace and the Harbour, the Esplanadi and some nice museums.
