Boat trip

by Anjutka

As Finland is the land of lakes, boats are really popular there. Almost everybody in Finland has its own boat, it is like car. You can go fishing by boat or just make a walk to some islands. A really romantic thing is to make a boat trip in the evening to enjoy the sunset. But dont forget some warm clothes and may be blankets. it can be really windy and cool.

Grilling fun

by Anjutka

Grilling in Finland in midsummer time is just great. Usually people do it in their gardens or go to the forest or to the islands to the special cabins (place where you can stay for a night) and grill at the lake. Of course you should take care of nature and dont let the fire burn after you leave. Finns are very careful about it. The most favorit things to grill are sausages (makkara), there are many types of them, but sometimes some meat and vegetables a well. Grilling is often connected with going to the sauna and bathing in the lake. If you are in Finland, you should for sure do it. It is an incredible fun!

Finnish sauna is the best

by Anjutka

Finnish sauna is a world-known sight. During my stay in Finland I was lucky to visit different saunas and every one was special. The finns are really proud of its saunas, everybody has at least one, they make grill-sauna parties and they go there almost every day! I personally liked the savu sauna (smoke sauna) very much. After sauna I was taking a shower, swimming in the lake, bathing in the river:-) And my dream is to go to the sauna in winter and take a bath in the ice cold lake!!!!Brrr...but its a paradise:-)

Sunbathing in Finland

by Anjutka

It is nice to catch some sun while you are in such a northern land like Finland. The sun can be even hot there! Dont forget also that northern tan is very stable. When I was there, i didnt hesitate to take an opportunity and to spread out in the sun. As you can see many girls were also just fans of it. What can be better to lie in the sun and to listen to the finnish music...Radio Nova!:)

Great fun for both kids and adults. You can find there Tove Jansson's books in different languages, original ilustrations, three-dimensional tableaux of Moomin stories and one of its kind- Moomin House model on display. Taking pictures is forbidden but you can buy postcards and posters in museum or Moomin shop just outside museum.

Reindeer Safari

by ellierae

You travel by coach for 1 hour to Kolari on the Finland/Sweden border to the Reindeer Farm run by Marjut, Sammi and family. You feed the Reindeer and then go on the sleigh ride through the Finnish countryside. Magical. It was -33 at Kolari the day I went on this.Been again to this Reindeer Farm. Marjut remembered me from the last visit.I booked on the Super Safari this time and my reindeer was called `High Horn`

Husky Safaris

by ellierae

Huskies are just great. The temp has to be between -15 and -20 before they can run.Females make the better leaders. You are shown how to brake and stop the dogs because when they are running it is hard for them to stop when you call them so brake power is what you need.I celebrated my Birthday on this safari. It was just magical.Been again to this Husky Farm. I was the passenger this time and on the second run.Great time here where everyone looks after you.

Serena Water Amusement Park

by finlandia

Tropical Serena Indoor Aqua Park (water park), the biggest in Europe! The fully heated bathing areas cover an area of 2.000 square meters.Serena is a tropically warm aqua park all year round. There are terraced pools, whirlpools, water slides (including a new kind of water slide called Black Hole with lighting effects and sound effects!), a wave pool, a 140 m long River Ride, saunas inside caves, a cave restaurant and a large outdoor section there. The outdoor section includes mat slides, rubber tyre slides, the Dead Sea salted pool and tube slides. The inside water park is the biggest in Europe. It is a wonderful place both for children and for adults. You will enjoy it!There are ski slopes named Ski Serena in the area, too. Remember also Serena Villas and Hotel Korpilampi for accommodation!

Take in the Sauna Experience

by sirhc

For Finns the sauna is more than an activity. It is a way of life. I had the opportunity to visit a vintage traditional wood sauna that was once used as a hidaway for former cold war prime minister Kekkonen. The sauna was heated with wood and after a 190 degree sweatfest, one took the obligatory plunge into the 40 degree water of the nearby lake.
