Boat

by Gili_S

If you are planning Scandinavian trip, take to boat from Stockholm to Helsinki or Turku. Best way for a quick culture presentation, party time, drunken people, food & drinks, clubs & disco, and yes, sauna too. There are boats also from Germany & Estonia.Related links:www.silja.com www.vikingline.fiwww.seawind.fiwww-eng.njl.fiwww.eckeroline.fiwww.lindaline.fiwww.tallink.eewww.superfast.comseawindphp.test.letm.com

Roads & car

by Gili_S

The roads in Finland are in good conditions and not crowded at all. Speed limit is 80 to 100. Motorways, 100-120. (Km/h)In the summer is easy to drive as it is so much light, at winter, the oposite, dark and usually icey and snow.Remember that in Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, Norway) you are obligate to have driving light at any time while driving, also during the summer days.To check road conditions, see the next link, it is also has hundreds of road web cameras.Roadcams

No borders

by Leipzig

Although Norway is not a member of the European Union it is no problem to cross borders. At the official border is just a roadsign demanding you to declare your goods. If you have nothing to declare you can cross the border without stopping and without showing a valid passport. The same procedure is at the Swedish border. Just at the Russian border you need a valid passport and a visa.

Finnair

by musti72

Finnair covers the globe with about 50 international destinations. It is also the fastest way to get around in Finland. It's not too expensive and you get to 16 towns in the country. The major airport of course is the capital Helsinki and If you want to fly from one city to another you always have to change there.

Take the train

by Knutt

Finland's public transportation is working great; trains usually run according to their schedule and at the railway stations all the information is given in Finnish, Swedish and English. Therefore: No reason not to take the train if you want to visit some other place. You can get tickets either at the station or on the train. But tickets purchased on the train are always a bit more expensive than those bought at the station (unless the counter at the station is closed for some reason). If you want to buy your ticket on the train you have to make sure you are seated in the proper compartment because the conductors sell tickets only in those compartments which have the 'Tickets are sold here'-sticker at the doors.

go to suomenlina

by yas2

to go to suomenlina from helsinki no need to take the touristic boats, there is a boat that is part of the public transportation system that would take you there for the price of a normal tram travel.it is in the port in the middle of all the touristic boats, no really fancy but well working!

Train

by Gili_S

Trains are the main connection between cities, wherever train don’t go there is a bus that will go, easy to use and relatively cheap. There are only international train connections with Russia. Daily trains to/from St.Petersburg & Moscow.

Finnrail pass

by aukjejetty

I would recommend this Finnrailpass to anyone who wants to see cities that are scatered all over the country. If you plan only to stay in a smaller part, you better of buying single tickets. I travelled for 3 weeks on a 10day-pass, and I had one day left. I saved a little money, but not that much. So, it might be worth doing a little calculation before getting the pass. You can find all the fares on the VR website.

Campingtrip by car

by Rahel

The prices you have to pay for the gaz in whole Scandinavia are very much higher than in Switzerland, and as I know also higher than in other european countries. Even though getting around by car leaves you the freedom to see also the unknown places, for example to have a break at a lake far away from civilisation. It's just amazing to drive along endless streets seeing nothing than woods.
