by Carino Alsace is famous for its wine road. This Road is going from Marlenheim all the way south to Thann. All together 170 kilometres of great landscape with beautifull vineyards. You can stop in almost every village along this street to relax in a Wine Bar and try some of the best wine in the world. Leave a Comment

Kientzheim by tini58de Kientzheim was one of the villages that we passed on one of our bike tours - just a very typical Alsacian village - and well known for the vinyards and the vineries! It is located in the vicinity of Riquewihr and Kaysersberg. Leave a Comment

by naranja Kaysersberg is one of the more picturesque villages on the 'route du vin'. There is an incredible medieval ambiance, so much so, that I expected to encounter a knight in a shining armor, anytime I turned around a corner. Dr. Albert Schweizer (1875-1965)was born here. Organist, musician and priest, he went back to university to study medecine and with on his own built a hospital in Lambarene, Africa, where he aided the poor and sick. He was one of my heros since I was a little girl, I was fascinated by his mission in Africa.1952 he was rewarded with the Nobel prize for peace. Leave a Comment
