This is what I call a great pick and mix buffet restaurant. With a french twist, deliciously presented and deliciously tasting. Great value. Salads, entrees, cheese, desserts, cakes, ice cream and main courses, wine from the cask...

When in Strasbourg, you MUST try the Alsatian speciality Tarte Flambe or Flammkuchen as it is known. It's a kind of flat tortilla or pizza with various toppings. The traditional Alsatian one has bacon, onions and melted cheese.

We came here with friends from Mullhouse in Germany. They said that this place served the best carpaccio in town and I think they were right. Strabourg is a culnary delight and you probably won't be too disspointed whereever you go. This place is popular so you'd do well to book a table in advance.
They serve lots of other things but I wanted to try the salmon carpaccio and it was lovely. I tased Nancy's beef carpacio which was OK but it felt kind of wierd eating raw meat. Of course pairing your meal with some Alsacian wine is a must. Luckily our host was a wine merchant so we were in good company.

Before ordering meat dishes you better ask the waiter about it's degree of "grilling" :) I've ordered some veal and it came out that my dish was some eight laser cutted raw slices of meat, with nothing else than olive oil on top and some pasta on a separate dish. So much for french cuisine for me thank you :)
Favorite Dish: Next time I will try their flambe pizzas.

special atmosphere, friendly GARçONS who took time to explain what was on the menu!
After that it wasn't difficult anymore to make a choice and enjoy a wonderful meal!
Favorite Dish: FRUITS DE MER as always......

This restaurant is in the main area where many tourists visit, so I am sure it's not the best in town. It was good, but for all the raving you hear about French cuisine, I am sure this isn't it. Hopefully I will find a better place next time, but it was pretty good. I had the Cordon Bleu, and it was good, but a bit salty. My friend had salmon with pasta and a cream sauce, which was also quite tasty. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going here, but I will try to find a different place next time.

Address: Not really sure. :-)
This restaurant is a type of Brasserie Alsacienne where you can eat all sort of local food but also some other dishes but it is mainly alsacien. I used to eat there at least once a month if possible and I think that it is a family owned restaurant. They are really kind and I remember once we arrived in this restaurant and they already closed the kitchen but they accepted to serve us which is uncommon in France!
Food is great there and I still haven't have time to try all the dishes :((
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish in this restaurant is a dessert : Charlotte au chocolat which is wonderfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul. I used to eat nothing during dinner just so I still have room and so I can have a big piece of my charlotte.

Maison is an instantly recognizable restaurant sitting on the wide plaza in front of the old cathedral in the center of Strasbourg's altstadt. The menu inside of the restaurant is pretty stinking expensive. I'll admit that I haven't felt it necessary to shell out for that experience. I've enjoyed eating from the outside menu, which is certainly more palatable from a price standpoint. They have various Alsatian dishes, and I've had no complaints about the food. On both occasions I've also enjoyed a nice bottle of Alsatian wine, while watching the street performers and various other characters and tourists wandering around the area.
Favorite Dish: I've had things ranging from spaetzle to escargot to an Alsatian chicken dish. Flammekurche (spelling?). Lots of traditional Alsatian dishes (think half German, half French)

The restaurant is actually a room. It looks like my gran`mas kitchen... You often share a table with some poeple, and the atmosphere is relax! Dont be more than 4 otherwise you will have to wait a long time for a table!
Favorite Dish: The dishes are very simple but delicious. Dont expect big plates but original french toasts and dessert. Try the wine glasses with sirupt.. hummm

Our class had a room for ourself and we had the chance to try some traditional food: Sauerkraut, Meat and Saussages. And of course we had some wine with that.
Favorite Dish: The meat was just great! Try also some wine.
I can't recommend "Pinot Noir", though.
