The atmosphere of Strasbourg's Christmas markets should be experienced by everyone. Walking around in the crisp air beneath the city's fabulous Cathedral while browsing through gifts reflective of France brings a whole new perspective to the holiday spirit!
What to buy:
Everything from French postcards depicting the cathedral, to sweaters, berets, candles, handicrafts, etc.
What to pay:
It's France, prepare to shell out more at this market than the one an hour away in Heidelberg!
I'm sorry I don't have a photo to back up this info but nevertheless, pay attention:
In the city center, just on the river bank, there's one of the most romantic stores I have ever been in. It is totally dedicated to Christmas and New Year celebration, with all sorts of decoration, candles, toys, Santas and reindeers... The shop is entirely made in wood, which together with the Christmas songs playing from the speakers gives the atmosphere or warmth. Go and check it out, and then e-mail me to tell me what the name of the store is :)
The Christmas market in Strasbourg is world famous. It is excellent for buying small Christmas gifts and decorations. They sell allsorts, from oil burners, to models, ornaments, and several other items
