Avoid Allo Taxi. They abused of our confusion with using Euros to rip us off on a ride to the airport. Blaming it on the amount of luggage, the driver asked us to pay 70 while the taxi counter displaying 45 euros. Upon investigation, he meant 70 cents, but he did not correct our misunterpretation when we gave him 70 euros. We phoned his company and the driver denied. He ended up earning quite a good tip, but this not very tourist friendly. Taxi #12 was at fault.

Boat Tour, A Must See

The entire Cathedral area is a big tourist trap and can be very crowded. Some of the restaurants are quite good, though, and if you are looking for a little bit of the area's craftmanship, this is the place.

Unique Suggestions: If you are in Strasbourg to visit, then there is little better way to learn about the city than by boat. Just down the hill from the famous Cathedral is a boat launch that runs every hour or so. The cost is about 7 Euros per person. It is a 1 hour and 15 minute tour that takes you through some of the oldest areas in the city and the included headset (in several languages) gives you some background on everything from the King and Queens to the life of prostitutes in the city. You also get to actually ride in some ancient canal locks and you feel like you are back in time. Last pass on the tour is near the European Union Parliamentary Center. It is a magnificent building and almost a breath of fresh air after seeing so many 15-18th century structures. If it is a warm day, be sure to wear a hat or scarf . I got a nice sunburn on my arms and there is no beverage service, so bring something along.
