    Surf destinations: Biarritz or Hossegor

by InBiarritz Written Feb 1, 2013
    Biarritz harbour

As well as being newly built, Hossegor also doesn't have much choice in types of surf breaks. This whole section of coast is just one long beach so if the wind is blowing onshore then there is no shelter. Biarritz has more of a rocky coastline so there are all sorts of surf spot types.
This corner of the Bay of Biscay is the warmest so in the high summer you can get away with wearing just board shorts.

Equipment: From April until October you can surf with a 3mm wetsuit or less. When the weather is warm then you can just wear board shorts. Surf size can be anything from flat up to double-overhead.

    house on the hill

As you travel out of biarritz to golf Ibbrix you travel down a hill as the road sweeps left and before you see this house go along a long lane on your right next to the free car park. we watched a free surf event on sunday afternoon. It was great with the two local villages competing. I dont know the road name it was just after lecleric supermarket and before le bounty restaurant, you should hear the loud speakers ad see the large flags. shame there wasnt much surf while we were there, but still fun to see the event.

    by Klod5 Updated Oct 27, 2004

The ball is the sport king of the Country Basque. The different districts of the city shelter the obligatory pediment. The twenty-one specialties since the game of the naked hand until the cesta punta ally power and cleverness. The Regions Golf Locations

I am putting this here for those who would rather hit the little white ball into the gopher-like hole, instead of spending a day at the beach. Its your life, I'm not going to tell you that you are an idio...

Oh, sorry. Apparently there is a great golf course in Biarritz, because it is advertised everywhere. Just trying to make the golf bum's life a bit easier!

    Equipment: Website description:

"In Biarritz facing the ocean with cooling breezes. A historic course (1888) with fast greens level many bunkers. 18 holes 5379 metres S.S.S. 69. Practice ground putting green. "

I don't even know what half of that means...

    swing baby! Swing!

This is pretty cool. It's kinda like "Extreme Raquetball" but with some basket attached to a guys hand (chistera) and a ball that they throw at 300 KM/H (the FASTEST BALL GAME ON EARTH!) against a wall...and..well.. I didn't quite get the rules, but they make it exiting..

    :)
