Biarritz is a summer resort, is small, and beside the Casino or the Hotel du Palais, has little to visit (well, the beach is great). But the Basque region is beautiful, and full of interesting places to visit.

For finger-licking deliciousness, don't miss out on the fruity and chocolatey icecream flavors that local merchants have to offer. Step into any shop that makes homemade icecream and taste test their product. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Biarritz beach is a great refreshing place to visit. It is a deep golden sanded, fresh Atlantic winded, great waves, great to dip into, (keep well inside your depth if you ain't a strong swimmer), great surf, and lotsa surfers, sun, sun and more sun, miles of beach, great fun, lotsa people sunbathing, yet lots of tiny little quiet coves. A walk on the beach is a must, and visit Biarritz itself also of course. Watch out though - prices can be expensive (in 1999) for beer and food, unsure of what else may be...It's well worth the visit - go there if you feel like blowing away some cobwebs and are looking for some golden rays :)

The church in Biarritz is very old, dating back well over 100 and probably 200 or more years. The murals on the ceiling, are absolutely breathtaking, and the outside architecture is very interesting as well.

The town of Biarritz is very beautiful, and even to some extent enchanting. It has a very cozy feel to it, with cobble stone streets, large courtyards, and small open front shops, and restaurants lining the street.
I would suggest a walk through will stopping to dine on some local cuisine along the way.

Along the coast, left of the beach, you will see a large rock outcropping, that yu shoudl definitely explore. It provides a beautiful view back over the beach and the waters below. There is a massive rock overhang that you can walk over which ends in the "Rocher de la Vierge", a rock topped by a white statue of the Virgin Mary. The man-made walkway built out of iron was desgined by none other than, Eiffel himself.

Biarritz's beach is the main draw. And it does just that; many, many people come here during the summer months to head to the beach and relax. Unfortunately, the beach isn't all too big, so it can get quite crowded. So, much so, that it took me and my friend 10 minutes of walking just to find a place big enough to fit both of us. From the beach, you can see the rock out-cropings to your left, which are really spectacular.

The only thing I did'nt like about Biarritz Beach was how built up it was at the back, although it was a beautiful beach with gorgeous waters, this was the only thing that spoilt it, apart from that I'd recommend visiting it

In the heart of the old town is the Cathedral and Crypt Sainte Eugenie. In addition to being a major religious focal point, the cathedral also serves as a venue for music programs and exhibitions.

While the ocean pummeled the beaches, the rocks surrounding Biarritz provided shelter to several very accessible tide pools, where kids with hand nets tormented tiny fish.
