Notre Dame Church
This Jesiut-style chrch designed by Michel de Plessy is a fine example of 17th century architecture. Its single barrel-vaulted nave highlights the eelgance of the bakustrade and wrought ironworks in the chancel. It is usual to consider it is having a worldly charm and Francois Mauriac asserted that it was a "harmonious and moderate church, warm in winter, a place to which those who succeed in establishing themselves a life on earth that provides all the creature comforts, come to ensure the eternity will give them as much pleasure."

Eglise Notre Dame
This church, built in the Romanesque-Byzantine style and richly decorated, is from the late 11th century. See in particular its western front, dating from the mid-12th century. Surrounded by an open-air market, the facade, carved like an ivory casket, is characterized by pinecone-shaped towers. It was thoroughly cleaned and restored in 1996. Carvings on the doorway represent biblical scenes.
Eglise Notre Dame
We stumbled upon this magnificant structure as we were walking around Bordeaux. The facade of the church was quite interesting with its characteristic "pine-cone shapped towers". The church is located in an area teaming with activity with an open-air market.
I read in my guide that the church was designed by Pierre Duplessy who was the king's architect and who was also Bordeaux's great urbanist. Inside the church is an organ that was added in the late 1780's and is said to be the "crown-jewel" of the church.
