We returned to Dover via Calais on Le Shuttle via the Eurotunnel. It is a 35 minute journey in which there is very little to do or see. For 35 minutes though you should be able to amuse yourself by sitting in your vehicle and chatting with your travel companions or read a book or something. Mobiles don't work of course.
It is a very quick and reasonably cheap way of getting to and from the Continent. The carriages have one or two tiny windows... you can keep smaller passengers amused for the full 35 minutes if you tell them to - *look for the fishes!!*
