We stopped off in Nantes to visit French relatives and made a couple more o/n stops. For us the journey is part of the trip.
My brother and his wife also drove from the north of England.
My sister and her husband flew from California to Scotland for a family visit, then on to Bergerac where we met the flight.
Bergerac Airport, about 40 minutes away, is small and very people friendly with a super little restaurant. A chicken wire type fence separates flyers from friends and relatives though security measures were in force and observed.
Bordeaux airport - none of us has used but it is about 90 minutes drive away.
For getting around a car is essential.
