Dieulivol Things to Do
Just a short 10 -15 minute walk up the road will bring you to Chateau Faurie, the home of Gerard and Helene Dalla-Longa.
We had been told by the owner of our holiday house that they welcome visitors to their wine producing estate. And indeed we were given a great welcome , were treated to a wine tasting session and lively convervsation in a good mixture of French and English. We returned several times to collect some more of their good evry day drinking wines.
We drove from Wales using the Portsmouth - St Malo ferry crossing, and taking our time to get to Dieulivol.
We stopped off in Nantes to visit French relatives and made a couple more o/n stops. For us the journey is part of the trip.
My brother and his wife also drove from the north of England.
My sister and her husband flew from California to Scotland for a family visit, then on to Bergerac where we met the flight.
Bergerac Airport, about 40 minutes away, is small and very people friendly with a super little restaurant. A chicken wire type fence separates flyers from friends and relatives though security measures were in force and observed.
Bordeaux airport - none of us has used but it is about 90 minutes drive away.
For getting around a car is essential.
