The hall of the 3 marshalls

The castle has a total of 35 rooms that are open for visit with such tempting names as hall of secrets... . But unfortunately for us, the chateau wasn't open that day. But after asking if we good have a quick look around, we could see this entrance hall (the hall of the 3 marshalls). As long as i didn't step on the floor since they were just finishing cleaning it....

Ste Marie Madeleine

This church looks very unimpressive from the outside. It is just that the building catches your eye because of its large, undecorated front. And us, being a curious lot, we went inside. And then you're in for a suprise. It is a very intimate beautifully decorated church.

Chateau de Duras

This castle was originally build in 1137 a nephew of Pope Clement V and even though it was lived in it's destination was more of a fort. In the 16th century it was slowly converted in a more residential castle. But it still commands a good view over the Dropt valley.

Open in march, april may and october from 10-12 and from 14-18h
Juin and september the chateau is opened from 10-12.30 and from 14 till 19
In july and agust it remains open all day 10-19h
Outside these months, the chateua is only open on weekends and with the christmas holiday (10-12h and 14-18h).

The interior of Ste Marie Madeleine

As said in a previous tip, the interior was quite suprising. Especially after seeing the uneventfull and non-inviting exterior

So this was our first destination of the new year. We headed out somewhere around 3pm when we had FINALLY gotten out of bed to the car horn. :-))
