the cultivation of wines on the caronnieux estate in Leognan has a long history, dating back to the 12th century. Benedicte monks from the holy cross abbey put the wineyard in order in the 18th century
the monks capitalizes on the remarkable limpidity of the white by baptizing them "Carbonnieux Mineral Water" and exporting them to Constantinople, where they were grealty appreciated by the Grand Turc. On e of the harem favourites, Bordelaise by birth, was at the bottom of this subterfuge.
in 1956, Marc Perrin acquired the Chateau and set about restoring it. His son Antony Perrin now runs the family estate.
situated on high ground in the commune of Leognan; Carbonnieux has gravelly soils that slope gently to the northwest. The delightfully named Eau Blanche streamprovides perfect drainage
