For being in the middle of the finest wine area in the world, there is not the wine tasting industry as we have come to expect such as in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California or the Douro Valley in Portugal. However, some wineries are realizing that this can be positive. Most of these seem to be from the Lalande de Pomeral district, just East of the famed Pomeral district. The wines are less expensive. On Sunday morning you can also pick up some good quality wines from local growers at the farmers market in the Libourne town square. Several I tasted were exceptionally good. Many of the others were very good, and certainly great for a nice wine to go with dinner.
