Eating out in the old town was a little disappointng - until we met Gerard Dalla-Longa our local neighbour and wine maker. He directed us to Les Tilleuls in Place des Tilleuls - just off the main, market square.
The Place is also home to the local boules players who have a terrasse there for their games and competitions.
We went several times to this restaurant and always ate outside because the ban on smoking inside was yet to be introduced.
The splendid lime trees, which give their name to the restaurant and to the Place, didn't always provide enough shade on those hot September days, but the meals we were served never disappointed.
We always chose the very reasonable Menu du Jour which came with large baskets of bread, usually started wih a home made soup which came in an enormous tureen and that was followed by a grill of fish or meat served with salad and chips.
We did not order wine but large carafes of the local red were placed on the table along with jugs of iced water.
As though that were not enough along came a desert - the apple tart was superb! Only coffee was extra
Favorite Dish: This was genuine, traditional and local home cooking, nothing fancy or pretentious, simply down to earth, honest food.
Well cooked and presented and cheerfully served.
Excellent value for money.
Please Note :- We ate there in late September and early October 2005.

In the middle of Monségur there is a square with this hall. It is used for all kinds of things like markets but also for parties.. Like the annual jazz-festival
