Barrio Libre by Toyin Can't say much about this place as everything took place in the dark of Night. Some friends from TOTAL came like commandos to our hotel and offer to SPOIL us a little.. So, I dressed up, though am not very nucturnal. The rest is history..heavy music, lots of drinks, wine, ..everything that you see in a night club. Excellent! Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

With fine weather, it is a nice short walk and it is quite interesting to see the chateau with different light, revealing details or a different atmosphere than from daytime. Probably the best way to do it is after a dinner in the old city, to walk up the rue Henri IV and to see the well lit white Louis Philippe Tower. The chateau is lit here from spots located at your back on the Parlement de Navarre building, giving a bit a flat relief to the ensemble, the colours are totally different from the ones observed during day time. From the place de la Déportation the little tour can go as follows; on the southern side is near the fountain, a little walk way is steeply going down ; go across the street and go down the stairs (direction : hotel du Département); the stairs end at rue du Mou, pass under an arch, turn right and you are at the Place de la Monnaie, with Tour de la monnaie in Front of the Chateau. After having looked from down there, walk up towards rue Marca, and take right; notice the arch above the street, you will come there after, but go ahead 20 m, and cross ((turn left when looking north, or up the street) and go in the park, take a pedestrian way and go till the before mentioned arcade; the chateau gardens are closed, but you can see Gaston Phebus watching on his castle from there. Then go back down rue Marca, and under the arcade is a gate (usually open at night ) which takes you to the former castle ditches, and you may walk 250 m until you step on a place where cars are parked. Left is a stair, you may take up, but before have a look at he chateau from down there.
As you want !!! 2047 character allowed, so follow up here: Then, you go up take the little street (rue de Guiche, look back the chateau with Louis Phillipe and Billère Towers are nice from there), and right is Place Grammont. Turn right, (the chateau is always on your right), walk up on the bridge, view on the chateau, again (in Summer, you may see more tree leaves than parts of the chateau), up, turn right, rue du Chateau, and at the end of rue du Chateau, you are back to place de la deportation. Well, this was a suggestion, the walk can be done in small pieces, the other way round or not at all, because you do not like to walk at night, or my writing might be long and boring(?). . . . main picture : Tour Louis Phillipe and the middle age Tour Montauser behind the entrance portico; the plane tree fruits add to the decoration. . . . This is seen from Place de la Déportation. . picture 2: Right is “Nouste Henric”(our Henry, in Bearnese) house, old house of the lower city, in front the Tour de la monnaie, former customs house and treasury , and above, the southern façade of the chateau , with the massive brick donjon on the right. (The famous Phébusian tower, built by Gaston Phébus) picture 3:Gaston Phébus on the western side of the Chateau, here day and night. . . picture 4:In the castle ditch, arcades here and there, views from down-up to the Chateau; just missing some watchmen like in Rembrand’s Night Patrol painting. . . . picture 5:View fom beginning rue de Guiche, upstairs the ditches. In Summer, the leaves may hide a big part of the castle. . . Theme: OtherAddress: Le chateau

The Palais de Congrès Beaumont is built to evoke the Belle Epoque era that was likely the last time that Pau was a major tourist destination, but it is nevertheless distinctly modern. The large casino sign at its door should alert you to the fact that this is a house of gaming, although it is also a nice addition to the pretty Parc Beaumont of which it forms a part. I didn't partake of any gaming - I have a slightly addictive personality and the lights and noise give me a headache - but I would imagine that there is little to differentiate it from the casinos in other cities throughout Europe. After all, this isn't Monte Carlo.
In general, you have to be well dressed to enter a casino in Europe. No jeans and no slovenly dress. Leave a Comment Theme: CasinoAddress: Bouleard des PyrénéesDirections: At the Parc Beaumont, where Rue Albert Piché breaks off
