Just south of Avranches is the bridge made famous by a three star general who got out of his jeep and directed traffic so that the three divisions bottle-necked there could get across in a timely manner. It must have been a lively scene.
We got off the N175, turned right and it was right there. A very stately and beautiful bridge in full operating condition still today over the Fleuve la Selune. And the sign at the parking lot of the little store on the corner was too good to pass up.

Well I remember Avranches because it was where I was first able to finally get my hands on a real live Croque Monsieur. And it was very good. It was from a little patisserie on Place General Patton....

I visited Avranches just to see the Patton Memorial, so I'm afraid I can't say too much about it. My brief visit here was nice!

On this perticular trip we slept here on our first day in France,we discovered a view on Mt. St. Michel like no other a great little hotel and a nice little town in general.
