    Muse de la Tapisserie

The Musée de la Tapisserie is a beautiful Baroque building where you can admire the Tapestry of Bayeux. The initial explanation of the tapestry where all the 58 scenes are analyzed and explain is very interesting . During the visit of the tapestry an audioguide helps you to entirely understand the history of the tapestry.

The famous Bayeux tapestry is still there. The almost 1.000 year old tapestry that is absolutely unique in it's kind, can be admired at the Centre Guillaume le Conquérant (centre William the Conqueror) inside the ancient library of Bayeux. Here a museum explains everything about the medieval time in which the tapestry was made, as well as about the events that the tapestry is telling about (William the Conqueror's story of how he got deceived, how he demands back the thrown of England that eventually led to the Batlle of Hastings). Walking along the tapestry itself can be done with an audioguide, that tells everything about this masterpiece that so miraculously survived the ages.
For those who seek about the Bayeux Tapestry in French: the common name in French is TAPISSERIE de la REINE MATHILDE.
