The Harbour market: Fresh seasonal seafood and fish
The market is almost every morning near the Harbour. You will see a few stalls, all of seafood straight from the boats moored behind the stalls. You cannot get fresher fish or seafood.
What to buy: The catch is local is seasonal.
Around Christmas and New Year you'll get oysters, scallops and monkfish.
According to the time of year: mussels, flat fish, sea bass, winkles, etc...
What to pay: You pay less than at a supermarket but seafood is not cheap in general. Prices will vary little between stalls.
The seafood market Market: Fresh Scallops
See separate tip for detail of the fish and seafood market on the harbour
What to buy: Scallops! In France they will always be sold with the 'corail', the moon shaped orange bit.
Stalls at the market will sell them opened and cleaned but you pay by weight with the shell included (so for instance the price you see for 5 kgs will be 5 kgs of scallops with shells)
What to pay: less than in supermarkets!
