Restaurant La Maree: Unexpected Standard of Cuisine

We had a meal there last night. As good aa before and there is still the excellent 25 euro menu - most enjoyable. But beware the wine prices!
A very popular and attractive restaurant with a pleasant and relaxed ambience overlooking the fishing port.
Awarded the "Bib Gourmand" accolade in2008 by Michelin for Good Food at moderate prices.
Food of a high standard is served here at lunchtime and for dinner.
Seafood is the speciality - it can take up to 3 hours for a couple to work their way through a large sea food platter!
October is the season for scallops so anything with St. Jacques must be tried (excellent)and oysters are also produced here locally for anyone partial to them.
In fact I ordered some oysters for the first time and was agreeably pleased but still don't really understand what all the fuss is about!
Other fish meat based dishes in classic and regional style are also on the menu.
On our first visit we had the 4 course 25 euro menu (including excellent cheeses), in fact very good value.
The 18 Euro Menu offers the same choices minus dessert.
Quality wines at quality prices! House wines start ariunf 19 euros.
Average price of meal with aperitif, 3 courses, and coffee the equivalent of about £23 per person
Favorite Dish: Cocquilles St Jacques au beurre noir.
Cafe du Port: Moules direct from the Market.
Situated on the quay in GRANDCAMP-MAISY next to the daily (including Sunday) morning fish market, this friendly local cafe is the ideal place to watch the world go by as you linger over a coffee or a beer.
Popular with both locals and visitors, including cyclists and walkers, you should not pass by Grandcamp-Maisy without at least stopping for a coffee here.
For a light but satisfying lunch it can't be beaten.
Moules frites; various omelettes with frites; croque monsieur (or madame!) sandwiches etc.
Ideal for a relaxed mid-day meal.
We were there mid-October but I guess in summer these meals would be served in the evenings as well.
While we were there it was also a great place from which to watch the sunset around 7 o'clock.
Favorite Dish: Moules and Omelettes - both with real French frites !
La Belle Mariniere: Small and Simple Traditional Cooking
This is a small, bistro style, family run restaurant with an attractive indoor dining area as well as a small courtyard. It was rather quiet on the night we were there - only one other table of 6 people.
Patrick the owner is very friendly and chatty. He is a local man and a lover of all outdoor pursuits. He told us about the seals that can be seen on the beach at this time of the year but it seemed we had missed them by a couple of days.
Our landlady had told us this was usually a lively little restaurant and Patrick certainly did his best to make it so. The food was tasty, well cooked and presented and good value, particularly the 16 euro menu. Wines rather expensive.
Favorite Dish: Terrine, Fish Soup and rabbit casserole.
