VEry friendly service ,good food like granma used to make them,and price for the whole family with menus from 11,90€
Favorite Dish: boeuf bourguignon and tarte aux pommes normande was one memorable experience too.Usually on the road I order the menu of the day, and sometimes just one dish plat du jour and wine or beer or even cider ::)
Horse and good food goes well in this part of France ,this is deep Normandy by the coast and horse racing, breeding and good Norman trou is famous indeed.
The Relais du Haras is typicalof this and a great stopping point in your car travels, the best, in France.
You can stay here 8 rooms and friendly service but I have use it on the go for lunch.
Favorite Dish: get a nice chunk of grill meats here, at the rotisserie are just mouthful. and of course the great Norman beer lol!!! or is it Cider...
In France all restaurants have their menus and prices clearly stated outside their restaurants. To western-european standards, eating out in France is pretty good value for money. A lunch menu (2 courses, sometimes called Menu Express, within the hour) can be had for around 10 euro.
Half the fun is leaving it to chance and just browsing around until you see something that suits you.

Favorite Dish: With it's extraordinary tidal movements, Normandie has a perfect coast for the "farming" of oysters, clams and other shell fish. Around the Cotentin peninsula, many coastal places have specialised in the production of seafood and other harbour towns have their own fishermen's fleed that weekly delieverd tons of freshly caught fish from the Atlantic Ocean. Oysters, especially the ones from Saint-Vaast-le-Hogue are world famous and there is also lobster, clams and various other sea fruit, as well as several local delicatesses.
Oh, how I love Normandian delicatesses and maybe without knowing it, you too have tasted some traditional items from the Normandian cuisine. Here are a few delicatesses that - when you are in Normandy - you surely have to try. They also can be taken home, as ultimate tasy souvenirs:
Camembert, the typical Normandian soft cheese that has conquered the world
Cidre, the apple wine that originates from this area andhas a complete own tradition
Calvados, (not only the name of a region!) is a deliscious sweet and strong apple liquor (40%)
Jambon-de-Cotentin, deliscious soft ham from the typical Normandian cattle
Some villages have their own specific mustard, paté or cheese variants, that add to an endless amount of delicatesses that one definately should enjoy in this beautiful corner in our world.
Perfect dinner at what was once a fortified 13th century farmhouse. The owners have gone to great lengths to make this a wonderful place to lodge and then have dinner. The 26 euro dinner included with the overnight lodging cost of 88 euro person was excellent. A sample dinner included:
warm cheese terrine with apples, Calados and green salad
Aiguillettes of beef with green peppercors and shredded Vire chitterling sausage
a selection from an excellent desert cart.
Or went for the gastronmic menu of oysters, lamb, cheese and desert. (I still think I should have ordered the lotte/turbot iet langoustines.
Favorite Dish: The over all dinner and service was first class.
Excellent food, very well priced. Of course it's possible to spend more than the $21-30/pp we spent but it's not necessary to have a lovely meal.
Favorite Dish: Moules were excellent. Be sure to try the local cider!
