    Wine-Tour : Vineyards

    Vineyards

On the tour we stopped at the vineyards where several aspects of growing vines were explained. Also influences of the weather, types of grapes etc. The classification system, grand: premier etc were explained.
This part of the tour was very interesting and gave a lot of insight into where the wonderful wine of Burgundy comes from.
We visited vineyards southe of Beaune - 'Cote de beaune'.

If you visit Beaune for the wine, I recommend you take a tour of the local vineyards. We arranged for the Safari Tour at the Tourist Information office (across the street from the Hotel Dieu). We had a wonderful time and it gave us a better idea of where the different apellations were (you could see what made one better than the other). They offered two different tours, one of the Cote de Beaune (south valley) and one of the Cote de Nuits (north valley). Both are excellent and end with a tasting at one of the wine makers.

    Wine-Tour : Cellar and tasting

    Cellar

The wine tour ends with a visit to a winemakers cellar.
You are taken into the cellar where the wines are matured. One also get an idea of the whole process of wine-making, until it is bottled.
Here you the also have the oppurtunity to taste a few wines (we had 5).
If you want, you can buy some of these wines, directly from the cellar at good prices.

    Wine-Tour : Villages

We passed through many villages like Pommard, Meursault, St Romain and Pernand-Vergelesses.
It is different driving through these villages if you have a good tour guide like we had. It is very informative.
We also stopped at some of these to take pictures or hace a short break to get water etc.

Several wine tours can be booked at the Tourist Info.
It could cost anything from 35 Euro to 70 Euro per person.
The tour we went on consisted of 8 people and a guide. The guide we had, was very well spoken in French and English. The tour was very informative and one could ask many questions.
The tour lasts for 1h30min - 2 hours.
