Place Darcy is an elegant square, open-spaced area in the centre of Dijon. Most of the main streets converge here, and it is full of cafes and restaurants. There is a small arc at one end of the square - probaly called Arc de Triomphe as in other French towns.

As we didn't get a chance to go inside the Hotel de Ville, we really can't give that much information! But as with all Hotel de Villes in each town in France, it truly is a place to sit in front of and wonder at the magificent architecture.

Just like Paris, Dijon is absolutely full of the most beautiful buildings with outstanding architecture. This town is certainly easy on the eye - that's for sure. I think we took something like 150 photos of the centre of Dijon alone - unfortunately photos and video don't seem to catch that special atmoshpere of being there in the moment!

This was our favourite street in Dijon - filled with the most incredible chocolate shops, pastry shops, cheese shops and of course, souvenior shops filled with jars of Dijon mustard (who knew there were so many different varieties of Dijon mustard???) There are some great craft shops along here too, which give you the chance to buy something unique to take home.

Yes, Dijon mustard does get its name from this city. Americans might recognize the brand Grey Poupon, well this is where the name came from. Though the orignianl Grey Poupon store has been bought by Maille msutard, you can still go get great mustard for a good price. Beware, it can get a little strong!

Beaune’s Hôtel Dieu. It was founded in 1443, to relieve some of the misery caused by the 100 Years’War. The original Hôtel-Dieu is now maintained by the Hospices as a historic monument and receives more than 400.000 visitors a year. The Hospices also own a 61 hectare domain of grand cru and premier cru wines.(!) One can taste (and buy) their wines here, but in my opinion the wines are rather expensive...
Beatufil architecture with a very special roof, as you will notice from the picture.

The interior of St. Michel's is relatively straight forward Late Gothic in style with a tall columned choir and no ambulatory. Inside near the entrance door is a fine 15C Entombment.
