We are avid fans of Logis de France as lodging places but more importantly as eating places. More often then not the standard of accommodation is 2 or 3 star but the restaurant is a cut above the ordinary.
Le Paris Nice in Joigny meets this description. We found our rooms in the older-style hotel building very comfortable, clean and with refurbished bathrooms. We dined outside under the stars.
David and Claire Le Corre were offering Menus ranging from €18 -35.
We opted for the Menu de Terroir at €25 par personne. This offered a choice of six entrees; six mains ; regional cheeses or fromage blanc & the choice of desserts from the carte.
Wine is available by glass or bottle.
Wheelchair access not a problem in the garden.
Ambience outside was great with nearly every table occupied. Service was excellent. I walked inside to check the buffet selection which was one of the entree options and found three very large family groups of more than 12 enjoying their meals as well.
Favorite Dish: Our party selected four of the entrée choices including : Les oeufs poches meurette, Le cake aux escargots de Bourgogne; la terrine maison accopagnee de sa confiture d’oignons.
For mains, the ladies both chose the brochette de saumon a la Chablisienne.
The blokes were very predictable with le cochon roti au miele de Joigny et sa crème brulee aux pommes de terre. Roast pork for the troops – you beaut!
Everything was very tasty and very attractively presented. Four courses plus a bottle of local Pinot Noir for a table of 4 bods for €120. That’s pretty good.
We enjoyed our meals so much in 2008, we sought out Le Paris Nice for an overnight stop in May 2010. We were not disappointed and will probably return in 2012.
