The oldest parts of the church of St. Martin in Nolay, were built in the 15th century. Of this building only the chapel remains. The Roman building you see nowadays was built in 1643.
Later, between 1763 and 1765, the Clocktower was added in the same Roman style. The church was reconstructed between 1869 and 1873.

The most impressive construction in the village is the market hall that you can find directly next the the church. This open hall was built in the 14th century and still stands strong, being used every week for the local market.
The construction is made of chestnut-wood, topped with a heavy roof made of limestone. All over the roof the layer of this limestone is at least 20 centimetres thick, weighing approx. 800 kilo's per square metre.
