We were pleasantly surprised when we visited Courtepaille for the first time on our most recent visit to France.
Normally wary of chain restaurants, we were ready to be disappointed. We chose to eat there because it was so handy to the Palladins Motel next door. We could walk without drink/ driving concerns.
Grill is the theme of this chain. The semi-circular room layout focuses on the large grill with service island in front of it. Great to watch the activities in that area while enjoying a pre-diner drink.
There is a huge range on the carte. Something to suit everyone. Prices seem to be reasonable. For meat eaters there is a range of cuts of beef , pork and fish & fowl.
I have tried Entrecote a dozen times in French establishments both lowly and up-market and have been disappointed every time. For the first time ever in France, I had Entrecote (€ 15) which met my taste, doneness & gristle-content (lack of) criteria. My wife had grilled Ham (€ 9.90) which she enjoyed as well.
The beverage list is extensive. We chose Nicolas Feuillate Champagne (€ 7 per glass) to start. A beer later cost €3.30.
The experience was such that we visited another Courtepaille Grill at Nemours which did nothing to lessen our opinion of the experience.
We will go back again.
