Les Paulands: THIS is what we wanted to find!

We had spent a wonderful day exploring the countryside around Burgundy. Our "big" meal the night before had been a let down, but as we drove toward Beaune, this pretty vine covered, little place overlooking the grand crus vineyard of Aloxe-Corton called out to us from the road. We pulled over, I went in to check the menu (and see if we could get in...it was pushing 8:30PM) and found a friendly smiling owner, a lovely garden-like dining room and that was that! It was the right choice.
We had the best coq au vin I have ever tasted in my life! We also had a wonderful bottle of wine...and we didn't leave without buying a couple of bottles from the cave to take home. (Aloxe-Corton, of course, but we also got a nice bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin here!) We enjoyed talking with diners seated nearby, an Australian fellow who is in the Wine business, and his daughter.
