Le Mangeoire in St. Fargeau: Le Mangeoire in St. Fargeau

by ATLC

An attractive little restaurant that seems to be quite popular given the amount of guests I see every time I visit.Read more about St. Fargeau. Local specialities like snails. But also a good meat fondue.

Le Soleil d'Or in Mezilles: Le Soleil d'Or in Mezilles

by ATLC

In Mezilles (about 10 kms north of St. Sauveur), there's a little restaurant called the Golden Sun. It is run by a very aimable couple and their little dog Thibault. Some of their dishes feature on my France page in the Local customs tips. I think the foie gras is out of this world. Not to mention the generous portion!Menus (2005) are between 22 and 32 euro.Literally everything is homemade. No pre-fabricated cuisine here!

Les Paulands: THIS is what we wanted to find!

by Radiomom

We had spent a wonderful day exploring the countryside around Burgundy. Our "big" meal the night before had been a let down, but as we drove toward Beaune, this pretty vine covered, little place overlooking the grand crus vineyard of Aloxe-Corton called out to us from the road. We pulled over, I went in to check the menu (and see if we could get in...it was pushing 8:30PM) and found a friendly smiling owner, a lovely garden-like dining room and that was that! It was the right choice. We had the best coq au vin I have ever tasted in my life! We also had a wonderful bottle of wine...and we didn't leave without buying a couple of bottles from the cave to take home. (Aloxe-Corton, of course, but we also got a nice bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin here!) We enjoyed talking with diners seated nearby, an Australian fellow who is in the Wine business, and his daughter. They were staying here as...

Au P'tit Kir: a tasty treat

by Flamegirl

This little restaurant, which only opened last year, does good trade with both locals and tourists. They offer a nice selection of local dishes (with a menu that rotates with the seasons) and wines, and it's all rather tasty! It's next to a canal and in summer they have seating outside. I loved the chicken with pear sauce and green beans, and the asparagus starter. I even tried snails for the first time and they were quite edible (doused in garlic and herbs, naturally). Creme brulee for pudding wins every time!
