Le Grill des Quais: Beautiful Waterfront Location

    Picture the scene: -
mid summer - fine weather - after a hard day's navigating on the Saone River, a drink and sustenance is top priority. There on the quay right above your mooring place for the night are restaurant tables on the pavement overlooking the River. The Carte offers meat for the men!

We were delighted to find Restaurant Le Grill des Quais. Ambience? Waterfront dining - hard to beat. An inspection of the air conditioned dining area inside the hotel revealed a very interesting decor with medieval theme médiévale - "ambiance plutôt romantique".

Le Grill offers €17 ( 3 courses) and €23 (4 courses) formulas as well as a wide choice from the a la carte.

Parking spaces abound along the quay. Limited access for disabled to toilets upstairs in the hotel.

Favorite Dish: My navigator had Entrecote from the carte and announced that it was as good as one can get!
The four of us shared a bottle of Cotes du Beane with our formulas and enjoyed the food immensely.

Great location overlooking the river Tables set along the river-side Entrecote - as good as it comes!

Brasserie des Arcades: Brasserie - Bistrot - traditional French +

We sat outside on a raised deck capable of 35 covers on the footpath with an outlook of the square in front of the Hotel de Ville. Ideal location for a Summer’s evening. There was an inside dining area as well. The restaurant was full and many potential customers were turned away.

Formulas to suit all tastes: Typical Up-market €26 features 4 courses
Entrée six choices with traditional French options including:
12 Escagots or plate of charcuterie or Salade Landaise (duck bits) or Smoked Salmon or Foie gras mi-cuit mason
Mains include Beef (Entrecote with three sauce options); Duck; Fish, Chicken, Veal, Foie Gras served with option ofcreamy potato gratin & green beans or chips.
    Cheese course plus Desserts.
There are less expensive menus with two or three courses and fewer options for each course.
There is an extensive a la carte including pizza.
Parking in the streets west of the square.
Open daily for lunch and dinner except on Sunday. Annual closure at Christmas.

Favorite Dish: I chose the €18 formula and enjoyed a salad de tomates au basilica for entree,
Magret de Canard sauce au poivre vert for main and a couple of boules of ice-cream for dessert. My wife had two courses: steak and frites followed by ice-cream and enjoyed it immensely.

I was impressed by the paper place mats which featured SO DU KU puzzles to keep customers busy while they wait.

Hans, Wim and I had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant atL'ANGE COURONNE'. The dinner was excellent and our server gave impeccable service. The dinner room was small, but intimate. Breakfast was also excellent with the usual French Croissants with creamy butter and home-made jams and marmalades.
