The washing place of the city was the gathering point of the femal inhabitants of Audierne.
They talked about the boats which were away with their husbands.

Favorite thing: Hoops !
Fondest memory: Look carefully at these rocks. They shelter Mary Morgan, the mermaid. May be you will see her long hair.

Favorite thing: Typical little chapel, completly surrounded by its stone wall.
A miraculous fountain nearby is known to cure all the pains.
Fondest memory: When the fishers are in danger, the bell of the chapel rings without any human action.
Believe that.

Favorite thing: The Dead Men Bay is located at the West end of France, between the Pointe du Raz and the Pointe du Van.
Fondest memory: It is so called because (according to the legend), the dead druids were transported by boat to the Sein Island to be buried.
An other legend tells one listens when the wind blows the voices of the fishers missing in the ocean.

Favorite thing: The most known place of the area is la Pointe du Raz (a cape) in which the waves break against granite rocks. Even if the weather is fine the ocean seems to be hungry.
In front of the Pointe, there is the Ile de Sein, inhabited by fishers and swept across by winds and spray.During WWII, the major part of the sailors joined the General De Gaulle in London. The Great Charles (de Gaulle) wanted to see the volunteers and discovered a lot of Sein inhabitants. He said : "The Ile de Sein seems to be the quarter of France".
Fondest memory: The best place to see the Pointe du Raz is the Pointe du Van which is on the other side of the Baie des Trepasses .
At this point there are no ugly building, no paying parking and less people.
