 | Belle-Īle-en-Mer Transportation | Tips 1 - 6 of 6 | | Popular Transportation | Other Transportation Tips | All Tips (6) I was just in belle isle. even though the place is busy, no problem getting ferry tickets. i went to the ferry terminal in quiberon the day before and was able to get the tickets. there are quite a few departures and on arrival, the place is full of activity with people waiting for passengers and also bus companies. there is no need to book seats, if we could get on so easily during the busiest time, september starts the slow season. All over the island you will find bicycle tracks, and since the island is quiet flat one way to explore it is on a bicycle. You can rent bicycles in the main port of Le Palais almost next door to the ferry departure point. Leave a Comment Theme: Bicycle

If you couldn't bring your car on the island, don't panic! Plenty of cars all styles are available to rent. Old 2CV or modern small buggies, make your choice! Most cars are quite small, better on the small roads. If you prefer you can rent a motorbike or a scooter. I give you a few numbers, but you can get more from the Office de Tourisme (0297318193, Belle-Ile) LMT Car Bike, 1 Quai Vauban, Le Palais, 0297314646 Locatouriste, opposite the ferry quay, Le Palais, 0297318356 And if you just want a quick drive, get a taxi! Here's one: Jose Guegan, 0297318633 or 0671642871 A last one with contacts: Belle-Isle Tourisme, quai de l'Yser

SMN - Societe Morbihanaise de Navigation : 40 minutes by ferry and you're there! You have to go all along the presqu'ile of Quiberon, heading for Port Maria. This place is busy in summer, and sign posts for the harbour (embarcadere) are rare, so don't worry about the turns and little streets and one way lanes, just go to the furthest bit south. if you cross by foot, no problem, just buy a ticket (26 euros return) and enjoy the views from the top deck. If you have a car, you can either park it there and cross on foot, or take the car with you (150 euros return). If you have not booked in advance (bookings open at Christmas for summer), your only chance to get a place for the car is to ask to be on a waiting list, and you may come lucky.

Another way to get around the island is by hire car or even buggies. These open buggies are quiet small - however are good fun if you want to explore the island "top less". The rental companies are situated in the main port of Le Palais and also in Sauzon. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Since it is an island around 14 km off the coast of the Bretagne most of the visitors would arrive by ferry boat. The journey is around 45 minutes and the ferries mainly arrive in Le Palais the islands "capital". Ferries depart the mainland Quiberon and Lorient. Ferry schedules can be found on the operators web page below. Leave a Comment
