As many restaurants were closed our choice for a light lunch in the sun was restricted but we came across this nice little cafe close to the quay from which a tiny ferry transports people across the harbour for a few pence.
It was busy but service was quick and cheerful. My omelette and John's tuna salad came with frites and home made bread and were fine.
Unfortunately our meal was marred by an aggravating conversation between an English speaking visitor, who had finished his meal, but bombarbed the 4 English diners, of about our own age, at the next table with a barrage of questions.
They had ordered the 3-course menu de jour and were only just being served. They responded courteously whilst politely indicating reluctance to get engaged in deep conversation across tables whilst eating.
But the questions came faster and got more intrusive. They were of a kind few British people like to have thrown at them by a complete stranger, particularly when they are eating, like -
what did they think of the (British) Prime Minister, the Government, the National Health Service, and so on.
I felt sorry for these people whose meal was being spoilt by the interrogation. Eventually one of the wives entered the discussion - a feisty woman of about 70 - who told the inquisitor all about her recent cancer treatment, then said he was talking a load of ignorant, arrogant rubbish but she hoped he would enjoy the rest of his visit to Europe.
I really liked that bit - it was better than a pudding.
Favorite Dish: The food was fine - the unavoidably overheard conversation added an unpleasant ingredient to an otherwise very pleasant lunch - not the fault of the estblishment so I'd go there again
