All and sundry to be found here: Regional products and boutiques

    Maison Larnicol

There are plenty of shopping opportunities in this small area - even on a day when most of the shops were closed!
Traditional Regional Products are plentiful and include some of the most famous and long established family firms in the area.
If you have packed the wrong clothing you could put that right here very quickly whether for an unexpected cold snap or an invitation to a very smart restaurant.

We saw some beautiful clothes for children and were tempted by a jacket for a 6 year old grandchild - only the price tag put us off. Clothes in France are generally expensive .
Casual outdoor clothing including nautical wear, is available for all ages .

All shops pictured are in Rue de Vauban or Place Saint Guénolé

Maison Lanicol - Biscuits, chocolates and traditional Breton pastries. You walk in, take a bag and make your selection which is then weighed and priced. We go can’t resist the tiny individual Kouign Amaann sweet and sticky little cakes. ( 0.166kg = 4 euros 15, for 4 )

    Picture 2
Conserverie Courtin - established 1893 the oldest cannery in the town. All kinds of canned fish, soups and sauces and prepared meals. Speciality is their famous dish of scallops cooked in butter and wine and preserved in large earthenware pots.. Guided tours can be taken at the cannery on the harbour side at e quai du Moros.

    Picture 3
Biscuiterie de Concararneau - buttery biscuits are a real Breton speciality. Light and delicious and often sold in very attractive tin containers.

    Markets

A daily market is held every morning in the large Market Hall- Halle, seen at back right in the picture. AS well as the usual produce stalls there are a number stalls selling snack foods.

In the open space in front of the Market Hall there is a big market on Friday mornings.
We arrived on a Monday morning and had a quick walk round the much smaller market held on that day which was already beginning to clear away and was not particularly interesting. Friends tell me the Friday morning market is by far the best. The location is lovely with a tree-lined road running along the waterfront and the Ville Clos as a backdrop.

La trinitaine: Breton cookies and canning

by gwened Written Jan 20, 2013
    La Trinitaine at ville close

This is my favorite store for all breton cooking, fish canning, and decorations for the house, the stores are always full to the max,and nice friendly service. The one here is no exception, in plus, it is inside the ville close or fortified city of Concarneau. Very unique.

if you want a real souvenir of Brittany do come here, we like especially the home decorations with Breton motifs

What to buy: fish canning, but mostly is breton cookies, biscuits, cakes, and decoration for the house from mugs to kitchen linens.

What to pay: good prices for unique items

the town is like it is, gourmand and richly decorated with chocolates, caramels, breton cakes and kouignettes of all flavors and shapes. The store is like a grand department store full of stock of all sorts, friendly service, great products same as in all Larnicol stores.

If you want to take something from Brittany and not buy it in Paris, come here ,the original place Mr Larnicol is a maitre ouvrier chocolatier de France or master chocolater of France and was born in nearby Quimper.

on the second floor here there is a women clothing boutique of American garments from the period 1940 to 1980 degrifféé or outlet type clothes, very unique. The only store I have seen this of all larnicols.

    Kouignettes

    Kouignettes

What to buy: kouignettes of all flavors and shapes are my favorites, then there is guimauds or long marhsmallow chocolate sticks, rochers or rocky chocolates balls, and galets or slices of fish characters all chocolates. delicious

What to pay: better prices than paris!! grab them!!
