Monique is using the chimes wheel. She pulls the chain to make the wheel turn.
The wheel has a diameter of 2 meters and 12 small bells are fixed on it. When it turns, the bells ring one after the other.
The sound is made to be pleasant to the Virgin Mary and it helps to have one wish granted. The man who financed the wheel prayed Notre-Dame for his son who was mute and Mary answered the prayer.

The wheel is really unique.
I do not know something like that in France but it exists the same wheel but larger (diameter : 8 meters and 350 small bells) in Fulda.
