    This ancient cobbled street just arrested my attention due to it aged look and charming old stone houses with the colorful windowboxes. Only after reading a little Dinan guidebook did I learn that it was for about 1000 years the main thoroughfare from the port up the hill to the heart of town. It was in pepetual activity then and saw mingling there the burghers, craftsmen, Mont St. Michel pilgrims, merchants, crusaders headed fot the oly land as well as various soldiers at various times. With the building of a viaduct in the mid 19th C caused it to fall into decay, but we saw evidence of a comeback with roofs being repaired and replaced.
