As soon as we walked in to the reception area we had the feeling that we were going to enjoy our visit to this hotel restaurant. The smallish reception area was furnished and decorated in a very traditional French manner but everything looked new. The lighting was cleverly chosen in a mixture of old and new style lamps whicg blended perfectly. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to the last unreserved table in the restaurant. This was much bigger than it seemed; the building is on a "rounded corner" and the restaurant covered a curving area with slightly different levels, most ingeniously separated by plants, screens and curtains which gave the impression of 3 separate rooms, giving a much cosier and intimate atmosphere.
We chose Regional dishes from the menu du Jour - a pate de Campagne to start, a delicious rabbit cassrole with perfect vegetables and a fresh fruit concoction with raspberries and cream. Excellent coffee . All served in a relaxed atmosphere with just the right amount of buzz.
The clientele was a mixture of business people, local families and friends just meeting for lunch and a few people, like us, passing through.
If we needed an overnight stop in this area we would make a bee-line for this excellent find.
Favorite Dish: We only ate there once and everything was excellent. It was also very good value for money. My recollection is that in summer (2006) the menu du jour was 11.50 euros.

Guilliers - found almost by chance.

We were driving from Pont Aven to Cancale for an overnight stop before catching an early morning ferry to Portsmouth. We had all day for the journey and decided to make a day of keeping to the back......
