Wonderful quiet area of the city north turning right from basilica,, the church of Saint Martin was founded in 1105AD, and became parrish church by 1400AD. It was renovated in the 17C , the altar nave was destroyed in the 19C, a chapel was built in its place. The building is known for its architecture roman breton under a benedictine planning.
at its place Saint Martin is a big parking place for camping cars from all over, with all facilities. A nice walk froom the basilica and a peaceful area.
La Chapelle de la Congregation, a weird destiny after been built in 1702 , the bishop refuse to consecrated, and it was later used as a cereal depot until 1805. Later, it held public hearings and meetings, then a classroom, and finally a place of expositions and works of arts exhibitions as today.
Actually it is the beaten path that follows the Nantes-Breast Canal that is the attraction here. Follow it West out of town and you will come to an Abbey that makes its own cheese! You really can't get lost and its flat riding so you can make an afternoon of it. This is a splendid way to get away from the crowds and enjoy the countryside on bike!
Get away from the (relative) crowds by visiting this quiet corner of Josselin. It is a pretty district with some wonderful old houses.
