Favorite thing:
There are two floors in the castle.
The upper floor is used as a sort of exhibit
of the people who lived here.
One can see letters , pictures , and stuff they
used during their lifetime.
The ground floor is left as if they still lived there.
It shows the paintings of the lady of the house.
The furniture they collected from there travels
but also valueable pieces from different countries.
Fondest memory:
Paul et Hélène travel round the world.
In 1930 they discover the animal deer forest
of the Maharadja de Kutch.
That inspired them.
They decided to create a little paradise for
animals round their castle in France.
The animals had to life in semi-freedom.
That was their spirit. (and I hope they
maintain this philosophy)
One of the nicest things you can see during the
guided tour is this travel equipment.
No , they most definitely were not
backpackers. An impressive suit case
with a beautifull dress of Hélène.
Were they VT'rs before the internet was there?

Favorite thing:
One of the nicest things we did was taking
the guided tour at the castle.
There were only 3 of us that were interested
so plenty of attention from the very friendly
lady that guided us around.
The nice thing about the castle is that it isn't
filled by a conservator or curator that bought
furniture and paintings at one or another auction.
It is filled with the memories of
the habitants of the castle.
So it also tells you the story about the
foundation of the zoo.
In the picture you can see H?l?ne Jourde.
The last lady who lived here.
She was a painter and you can admire her
paintings . She even made it to the
Metropolitan museum in New York.
She died in 1988.
Fondest memory:
The castle can only be visited in July and August
and you'll have to pay 3 euro's extra with
the entrance fee from the zoo.

The weather seems to be very important
to everybode. And certainly for this area it
is because there is little or few activities
that are inside.
