Poissonnerie Kervarrec: fish market in town

by gwened Written Jan 10, 2015

This is a small fish market right in city center by the place du marché that we buy our fresh fish and seafood.

It is nothing major small cozy and family friendly. The man is a fisherman license and the wife tend the store. If you want fresh from the Atlantic or gulf of Morbihan then come here. Some other fish/seafood is offered from elsewhere in France, but most is locally catch by the owner. Can't get any better than this.

Not the best to showcase it but got a photo at night when its closed.Just for the tip.

What to buy: fish and seafood whatever is in season fresh

What to pay: very good prices for the freshest best product; locally done by the owner himself

    Marché de samedi: le Marché

by gwened Written Apr 12, 2014

well a town in France would not be it without the marché or the market days. We Enjoy ours as it is about 500 meters from our house.

The market is here is at Place Saint Michel, the one next to the mayor's office or mairie. Its a small market and we found meats a bit more expensive than in others but still the experience is nice and you get to know the local even the Neighbors.

There is a bit bigger one on Tuesdays. always in the mornings before 13h or 1pm.
there is a nice event in the summer with a night market and Breton dances.

What to buy: we go for some fruit vegetables and mostly meats, even if the price compare to other market we have been is a bit high

What to pay: ok prices, our experience has been we have found cheaper elsewhere

more shopping lol! arriving march de Pluvigner at pl St Michel you name it we are ready at the market

They have food from the farms like wine, honey, jellies, cookies, etc, plus garden tools, fertilisers, and insect repellents, farm tools, and flower pots, all for the home.

The way for visitors would be that stopping here you will get a souvenir from real France, not only made here but by local farmers and producers who love their terroirs. Unique and authentic.

They are the country store part of the biggest garden chain in France Gamm Vert.

Lidl: foreign chain in the country

by gwened Written Sep 6, 2013

This is a German chain all over here, and we have one about 300 meters from our house. Its a typical low price grocery store of in house brands mostly from Germany ,Sweden, and Spain based products.
The prices are right, the quality you need to check the quality/price ratio.

Its a big size grocery store, I say the second biggest in the area, and as it is close we already check it out ,so more choices for grocery shopping. The family has been here, not me yet.

you will be well fed around here. Open Mondays to Saturdays from 9h to 19h

    What to buy: groceries

What to pay: best prices for non brand name items
