L'Esplanade Café: brasserie pub on pl Hoche

by gwened Written Jan 11, 2015

This is new opens since last April a bit backj on place Hoche away from the Grande Plage beach but easily walkable. When we come we go straight for the boardwalk area most of the time, but this day it was cold and rainy and we decided to go in. A wonderful surprise.

The place is very nice wooded English pub style, with screen TV several, and bench tables. Darts games and big bar counter. You have several drinks from whiskies to rums and gin, as well as wine, and beers.

Very friendly service we talk a lot and found out the owner had spent almost a year in Marco Island Florida USA,another of our haunts in our lives. So more chat ::)

You have an open view to the square Hoche, completely renovated to a spacious big square with shops, restos, pubs all around it and walking distance to the beach.

Favorite Dish: we had a mix of sausages and beers, La Goudale pint is great ! we use it as our apéro or similar happy hour drink. The price is for a pint of beer and diabolo menthe plus a whole sausages for about 7,36 euros per person.

Villa Margot: gourmet on the beach Margot

by gwened Written Sep 14, 2014

Now this is class on the beach, the restaurant you go in on the quai by the grande plage, and has a terrace overlooking the beach. This is style and classy dining. Prices to boot.

We took a peek with the family for a drink and the mussels menu for lunch of 16€ just to see the ocean from abroad. You can have normal menus from 23€ and up. It does have tea time as well.

This is a breton home from the 19C classic, with a nice square tower, and heated terrace overlooking the ocean.

You have great cooking here gourmand and also cooking lessons are given. IT should be good for an evening dinner, on the agenda...::)

Favorite Dish: menu 16€ lunch French

Le Tourbillon CLOSED: bistrot à vins in pl Hoche CLOSED

by gwened Updated Sep 14, 2014

Too bad to see the resto is closed and the space for sale. These are the ups and downs of restaurants in a tourist area, not all year , they wont last. This one is sad as it was friendly and good. Leave it for the memories but its CLOSED.

We come often here even in winter as yesterday, now the place is almost empty only the seasonal resident for winter are here and lots of locals. The trip took many twist coming in the côte sauvage (see tips) and as often the case we needed to eat.

walking around in the course of trying them all, we stop by this bistrot à vins in the Place Hoche, main square. The idea was simply awesome. Sure to come back here. Plenty of wine choices by the glass with always a wine of the day

Small place decorated with movie stars photos and american paraphernalia, great bar, one women show place at least on these days, and the service was prompt. The food was very French classic style small portions but plenty, and nice friendly company of patrons to chat about. nice afternoon in Quiberon

Favorite Dish: we had the mont d'or melted cheese with potatoes and marteaux sausage
Mont d'or and marteaux saussage soufflé. then the house burgers, for the boys, and Leffe blonde beers 50Cl, dessert were caramel cheesecakes, and expresso coffee all for 88€ for five, a good value.
