The views from there are amazing and you will encounter the famous historic figures of Saint-Malo, like the corsair Surcouf or Jacques Cartier, the explorer of Canada. You will see the narrow streets from on another point of view and another perspective. Great photos to make on this occasion. From there, you can go down on the beach for a nice walk or to climb on the Grand Bé/Petit Bé at low tide of course or visit the "Fort National". Leave a Comment |
Very nice way to discover the surroundings and to learn about the history of the city thanks to the boats of the "Compagnie Corsaire". There are several departures throughout the day. The tour itself takes 90 minutes but you can also choose other destinations, including Dinard - which is right opposite Saint-Malo when you embark - or the island of Jersey. See my travelogue Saint-Malo bay for more pictures. In Saint Malo, below the west side of the ramparts is the Bonsecours bathing beach, with a swimming pool. From the Castle the Grande Plage extends eastward to Paramé. On an island off its western end is Fort National, built by Vauban in 1689 (accessible on foot only at low tide). To the east of the old walled town is the Harbor, with several basins. |
