Cafe Français is a nice bar with good (often live) music. Relax between friendly locals, having a nice drink while enjoying the music. Staff is capable to understand AND speak English!!
recommended: choose from wide range of local mix drinks or even Belgian beers!

The town of Chinon seized a wonderful opportunity and provided lights which light up the castle over the town. There are so many angles in the architecture, that it makes a very interesting spectacle. If you are camping across the river you have the best view of all, which makes this campground a prime stopover. Or if you are not camping there is a park across the river just by the bridge. You can picnic there and enjoy some great wine of Chinon that you purchased from a local winery. I am sure you will be glad that you stopped here.
Dress Code: Better wear comfortable clothes. If you go up to the castle wear comfortable shoes. Take your camera. The view from up there is fabulous.

Chinon is another well preserved medieval town. The town is situated on the Vienne River just before it reaches the Loire River making it important for major trade routes in years gone by.

Not a very big town, the 400m long fortress towers above the medieval quater, perched atop a rocky spur. The River Vienne runs below. It's a nice, quiet place and is very laid back.
The city of Chinon sits on the Loire and is an excellent base to stay if you are going to explore the chateau's in that area. The city is easy to navigate on foot and has many excellent restaurants......
